It’s been snowing a lot this week throughout North Carolina, USA. The kids are not receiving meals due to the closure of the elementary school. It happens each year. In this case, Lejuane Parker who is the librarian of Durham School decided to take action to ensure children who were five years old could have lunch. For children who come from the poorer parts of society, the closure of schools in winter was no lunch.
98% of the children attending those schools located in Carolina depend on school lunches for their food. Parker is planning to give students lunches in this winter. In the beginning, he sent text messages to his friends. In the beginning, he received just $487.

Turquoise LeJeune Parker, a library teacher at Durham School, decided to do something so that children up to five years old could get lunch.

Parker’s fundraising has risen to $106,000 this year. His efforts have been linked to the local community and an international retailer. More than 60 volunteers help pack the food every day. In the winter, Parker sends lunches to more than 52 thousand children who are in need each day.
