According to the CNN news, The acclaimed film director Jean-Marc Vallee- the director of”Dallas Buyers Club,” a 2013 thriller “Dallas Buyers Club” -passed away on Sunday in Quebec City, Canada, the publicist for his production company told CNN. He was aged 58.

“He was a close friend as well as a creative partner, and my older brother,” Nathan Ross, who is a partner in Valleee’s production company Crazyrose released an announcement. “The master will be greatly missed , but I am happy knowing his stunning style and the impactful work he gave to the world will be remembered.”

The director began in Canadian music videos and short subjects before making his film debut with the French-language film “Liste Noire,” also known under the English name “Black List.”

Jean-Marc Vallee’s most famous film within his native United States was “Dallas Buyers Club,” the 2013 movie based on the actual account of the story of an AIDS patient who turns into an experimental treatment distributor. Although the Academy did not acknowledge his direction, this film received nominations for Best Picture, while stars Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto both received Oscars for their performance.

Vallee began his television production career in 2017 when he was the executive producer on”Big Little Lies,” an HBO show “Big Little Lies.” The show also featured him as the director for season one of the show, and he was awarded an Emmy. Vallee later served as executive producer of the show “Sharp objects,” also for HBO, and directed each episode. Jean-Marc Vallee and Ross had agreed to a new development agreement in April with HBO on April 1, as reported by Deadline.

Vallee stated in the video he made in the magazine The Hollywood Reporter he was careful when deciding on the projects he would like to undertake. “Choosing what you will film about is about deciding what you want to do with your life,” said Vallee. “Are your going to feel satisfied when you wake up each day, serving this, and enjoying it?”
